In the aftermath of a series of food crises and scandals in recent times, the European Commission strengthened the rules for food and health safety standards and its enforcement. With the recently adopted European Parliament Resolution on the Food Crisis, Fraud in the Food Chain and the Control thereof as well as the Draft Regulation on Official Controls by the European Commission, the food industry has to implement and to comply with various new legal requirements. For food industry it will be essential to be familiar with the new standards and requirements as well as to be prepared for food controls from a legal, methodological and technical perspective.
