Fiona Carlin Becomes Global Head of Antitrust & Competition

Baker & McKenzie is pleased to announce the appointment of Brussels-based partner Fiona Carlin as new head of the Firm's 370-strong competition and antitrust group, marking a decade of female leadership of the practice.
She succeeds London-based partner Sam Mobley as chair of the group. Sam was in turn preceded by Lynda Martin Alegi.
Fiona is the managing partner of Baker & McKenzie’s European & Competition Law Practice in Brussels and previously chaired the EMEA regional Competition Law Practice Group.
She advises clients on a wide variety of competition law issues, including complex merger control and cartel cases, the structuring of distribution networks, state aid grants, and the defence of clients before the European Courts in Luxembourg.
Fiona is the EMEA representative on Baker & McKenzie's Global Diversity & Inclusion Committee. She is also a member of the European Advisory Board of Catalyst, an organisation dedicated to expanding opportunities for women and business.

Fiona joined the Firm as a partner in 2001. She is a UK qualified barrister and a member of the Brussels bar. Some of her recent successes include overturning a State aid decision for Hungarian energy incumbent MOL and facilitating FedEx’s acquisition of TNT. The global practice obtained unconditional clearances in 20 jurisdictions after Fiona and her Brussels team successfully challenged UPS’ earlier bid for TNT that was prohibited by the European Commission.
