Tim Van Canneyt Appointed Managing Partner of Fieldfisher Belgium

European law firm Fieldfisher is delighted to announce the appointment of Tim Van Canneyt as Managing Partner of Fieldfisher Belgium, effective from 1 February 2026. Tim succeeds Jean-Francois Germain, who has held the role since 2019 and completed two consecutive terms during which the Brussels office experienced significant growth in both resources and revenues and built a complete client offering. 

Tim joined Fieldfisher in 2007 and was promoted to partner in 2016. He is widely recognised as a leading data and digital lawyer and currently co-heads Fieldfisher’s Technology & Data Group in Brussels. As a member of the firm’s Executive Board, he has played an active role in shaping and delivering Fieldfisher’s business strategy since 2023. 

Fieldfisher Belgium has been part of the firm’s integrated international network since 2007. Over this period, the office has developed into a high-growth, strategically important European hub, delivering strong financial performance while significantly broadening the depth and range of its practices. 

The Brussels office currently comprises 20 partners, 45 qualified lawyers and 31 Business Services professionals. It is particularly recognised for its expertise in EU, Regulatory, Antitrust and Trade law, Dispute Resolution with a market-leading reputation for arbitration and cross-border matters and Technology & Data capabilities, and expertise in technology, media, life sciences, healthcare, financial services, energy and real estate. It is particularly recognised for combining a full-practice Belgian law practice with a large and well-regarded EU Regulatory team.

The office has achieved 17 consecutive years of growth, alongside a significant transformation driven by lateral hires, the introduction of new business lines and continued expansion of its client base. The office has a stellar portfolio of clients active in key sectors such as technology, pharmaceutical and life sciences, energy & renewables and financial services. With ongoing investment in talent, innovation and integrated EU and local offerings, Fieldfisher Belgium plays a strategic role within the firm’s European platform and is a core driver of its wider European ambitions.
