Description:

Objective:

This seminar aims to equip competition lawyers, in-house counsel, and authority officials with a practical understanding of applying economic analysis in EU competition cases. Against the backdrop of increasingly complex merger and abuse-of dominance enforcement, the programme offers insights into market definition, proving anticompetitive effects, and quantifying damages.

Through interactive exercises, and expert guidance, participants will develop the skills to critically assess economic evidence, translate technical analysis into persuasive legal arguments, and design robust theories of harm that hold in courts and before authorities.

Key topics:

  • Economics in market definition and proof of harm;
  • Translating economic analysis into legal arguments;
  • Cross-examining economists and evaluating reports;
  • Applying merger economics and identifying killer acquisitions;
  • Quantifying damages and presenting evidence in court.

Who should attend?

Staff of national competition authorities and EU institutions, judges, lawyers in private practice, in-house counsel.
