Description:

Since its establishment, the European Centre for Judges and Lawyers, the branch in Luxembourg of the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA Luxembourg) holds annually the conference entitled ‘Recent Trends in the Case Law of the Court of Justice of the EU’.

During this annual event we will be reviewing and commenting on a number of key judicial decisions issued by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) during the past 12 months. These judicial decisions offer a first-time interpretation on certain EU legal instruments, give a new meaning to existing legal rules, or they adapt or re-examine past jurisprudence.

By attending the conference you will:

  • Stay updated on the most recent and important rulings of the Court of Justice in the various fields under its competence;
  • Gain first class legal insight into how the selected judicial decisions may impact the legal and policy development of the EU;
  • Anticipate issues of future legal concern to the Court which could lead to new EU litigation;
  • Become a part of a network of top-notch experts, sharing their expertise and good practices.

Course methodology/highlights:

The commentary and analyses of the rulings proposed by the conference will be conducted by EU law leading specialists (academics, national magistrates, CJEU legal secretaries, EU officials, practicing lawyers).

All sessions will be followed by Q&A sessions and discussion time where participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and share professional experiences.

The conference’s breaks, meals and other ludic features (our first evening cocktail) will be an excellent opportunity for networking and socialising with other legal professionals on matters of EU law.
