09-11-2011: Brussels — 7 November 2011 — Hunton & Williams announces the appointment of Wim Nauwelaerts as Brussels office managing partner. Nauwelaerts, who joined Hunton & Williams in August 2010, will be responsible for providing leadership and coordination with firm leaders to oversee strategic planning and client service initiatives for the Brussels office.
07-11-2011: Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has announced that highly regarded litigator Elaine Whiteford, a barrister who specialises in major competition law disputes in the English and EU courts, is to join its rapidly expanding Competition, EU and Trade Group as a partner. She joins BLP from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London.
20-10-2011: Birmingham and London law firm, Martineau, has opened in Brussels as part of a strategic collaboration with German law firm, Becker Büttner Held (BBH).
18-10-2011: Liesbeth Weynants joins Hoyng Monegier as a partner in its Brussels office from Benelux law firm NautaDutilh and brings her team with her, which includes senior associate Christel Brion and junior associate Charlotte Weyne. Liesbeth is an expert in patent and regulatory matters, and has a particular focus on the Life Sciences sector.
13-10-2011: Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Jeroen Smets as a corporate partner in its Brussels office. Smets joins K&L Gates from Taylor Wessing LLP.

13-09-2011: The Brussels office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Flavia Distefano as a partner in its antitrust, competition, and trade regulation practice. Distefano arrives at K&L Gates from McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP, where she headed the firm’s European competition practice. She is the first partner addition to the office since its establishment in February of this year, and joins a 60-lawyer competition team worldwide.
